Special Parent’s Night or Afternoon Out is one of our favorite charities to attend.
We’ve done it for the past several years and we love seeing the children’s faces as they come to the truck to enjoy our Greek food!
The Church of the Hills and the Matheny School will sponsor the 14th semi-annual Special Parent’s Afternoon Out Event!
This year they have broken previous years attendance with 250 children attending and 150 parents spending sometime together at one of the participating restaurants who will host their date.
Take a look at the Spring 2016 event:
If you haven’t heard of Special Parent’s Night, it is an afternoon where parents have an intimate lunch at one of the participating restaurants while their children with special needs are involved in activities on the church’s property. Activities include lunch, music, movies, games, a petting zoo, pony rides, pumpkin painting, canvass painting, face painting, hay rides, video game truck, fire truck and numerous other activities for the kids. The location of this event is at The Church of the Hills, 3545 Route 206, Far Hills, NJ.
With children having varying degrees of disabilities, the organization needs 300 volunteers to do the following:
- help with everything from food preparation
- most importantly one-on-one child care assignments for the afternoon
Make this a special afternoon for families
Contact them before Saturday so you can volunteer, get a shirt, and if you need volunteering credits for school, a certificate of participation will be given to you. No event can function without the help of family and volunteers. Since this is a semi-annual event, if you were not able to attend this one in October, look out for the one in the Spring.
