This week we are honoring our Veterans on the mainland, around the globe, and most importantly remembering those who have died. Veterans are a big part of our history and should be taken care of and celebrated. Most people don't understand the courage it takes to put your life before family and country.
Last year we saw many Veterans walking all over Midtown after the parade; they were Korean War Veterans, Gulf War Veterans, Iraq, and Afghanistan Veterans. We talked to many of them and thanked them for their service and sacrifice. If you ever see a U.S. Veteran no matter where they are, thank them for their service, courage, and dedication to our country.
Lunch is On us Veterans
Last year we decided to treat current and past service members to lunch. We are doing it again this year and we hope to see familiar faces and new ones who are coming to the city to celebrate America's Parade on Veterans Day. This year the parade's theme is to commemorate 15 years of 9/11 with special recognition of our Afghanistan, Iraq, and other Post-9/11 veterans, as well as our First Responders.
The start time for the parade is 11:15 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. They will start at Fifth Avenue, from 26th to 52nd Street. We're located at 51st and Park Avenue. We would definitely be honored for you to come by the truck.
If you decide to join us for lunch, here is what the Veterans will do to have lunch on Uncle Gussy's:
- From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. we will be at our usual spot at 51st and Park Avenue which is Midtown East.
- Show a Military ID as a current or past service member (Veteran’s ID, Veterans Advantage, and or DD214) at the ordering window.
- Choose from these two platters, the Combo Platter or the Chicken Platter, and a beverage (soda or bottled water.) Both of those platters come with yellow rice and Greek salad.
On behalf of my family and team, we humbly thank you for all that you do!
