We’ve been invited to, “A Celebration of Greek Indpendence”, by the New York City Council at the Council Chambers at City Hall on March 7th, at 5:30 p.m. This is a Monday but you must RSVP by March 4 by calling 212-788-6687 or by sending them an email in the address listed on the flyer or Facebook page.
Proud to be Greeks
Our team jumped on board as soon as we got the invite to celebrate our heritage and bring honor to our Greek and American families. We know that Greece is always in the news for its economic troubles, but we want to bring out the best in Greek heritage and that starts with our food. We also want to be able to speak to other Greeks in our community at the event.
We want to be able to teach our daughter and other children in the family about the history, the culture, traditions, and music of Greece even if we are in New York City. Our history is deep rooted in the diaspora of the United States and we love the community we live in where those traditions never die. That is why it is important for us to participate in as many culturally relevant events as possible in New York City.
What Greek food will we serve?
Since it is on a Monday and we will be working our regular hours, you can bet on us preparing Gyros, Souvlaki, Horiatiki (Greek Salad), and other authentic Greek dishes for those in attendance. Make sure to RSVP by March 4th which is in three days so you can celebrate with New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and Council Members Costa Constantinides, Vincent Gentile, and Paul Vallone.
Thanks to the Council Member Costa Constantinides and his staff for reaching out to us and asking us to participate in this event.
